Personal Biography

Mr. Liu focuses on cross-border dispute resolution and financial markets disputes and compliance. He has extensive cross-border legal experience and is familiar with cross-border dispute resolution, cross-border transactions and international commercial legal services across the jurisdictions of the People's Republic of China, the United States and Canada. Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Liu worked in compliance management at a major PRC financial institution, where he gained extensive practical legal experience in internal control and compliance management for financial institutions, securities and futures trading, the full lifecycle of private funds and securities firms' asset management plans (fundraising, investment, management and exit), over-the-counter derivatives transactions, and spot commodities trading.

·Defended a financial institution in a dispute arising from over-the-counter derivatives transactions

·Represented a risk management company in a dispute under a commodities warehousing contract

·Advised a financial institution on the preparation of over-the-counter derivatives trading documentation, including master and supplemental agreements and transaction confirmations, under the SAC and NAFMII frameworks

·Represented a PRC enterprise in patent infringement litigation before a U.S. federal court

·Advised a PRC client on its proposed acquisition of equity in an overseas food manufacturer
